This cake is a hat. This hat is a cake.
For some strange reason—possibly because I’m planning a wedding right now—I’ve been interested in cake. As desserts go, I don’t really like cake (I’m more of a chocolate purist) but wedding cake is apparently a big deal. I’m still not convinced that I need to spend $400 on a single cake for a single day, but I’ve come across some pretty amazing, creative cakes, and I want to share them with you.
You can find photos of beautiful, classy cakes with perfectly smooth fondant and floral arrangements or bunches of fruit. Those look scrumptious and artful, but here I want to point out a few unconventional cakes. Take a look.

A balancing peacock cake!

Two Tim Burton movie wedding cakes: "Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Corpse Bride"

- A Super Mario Bros. wedding cake (this is my favourite!)

"The Deer Cake"—not really my cup of tea, but impressive work nonetheless!

The "Enchanted Castle of Love" Cake

A Rubik's Cube cake!
The Rubik Cake comes with step-by-step instructions, if you want to get floury yourself.
You can also take a look at these Tasty and Techy Cakes, a list that includes camera cakes, an iPhone cake, and a Twitter Fail Whale cake.
They’re beautiful AND you can eat them!
On that note, it’s lunch time. Piece (of cake) out!
I LOVE the mario cake!
The deer cake creeps me out.
These are fabulous! Maybe you could consider an Underwater Victorian themed cake. Or maybe just give everyone a couple of fabulous handmade chocolates.
