And now listen to me in turn. You have touched me more profoundly than I thought even you could have touched me—my heart was full when you came here today. Henceforward I am yours for everything….
—from a letter written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
to Robert Browning
An adorable writing campaign has recently come to my attention: Love Letters Aren’t Just for Lovers. As the website says,
The goal of this project is simply to fill the world with more love letters.
Love letters can be for lovers, yes, but they can also be for best friends, bus drivers or baristas. […]
The important thing is simply this: That they are sincere, they are tender and they are very real.
Wanna join in?
There are three components to the campaign:
#1: Two free workshops, offered in Toronto, on the art and beauty of love-letter-writing.
#2: A love letter contest, open to absolutely everyone.
#3: A yet-to-be-released e-class on writing love letters, which will launch January 1st, when I announce the contest winners.
I look forward to reading the winning entries! Love letters really are uplifting.
O SON OF MAN! I loved thy creation, hence I created thee. Wherefore, do thou love Me, that I may name thy name and fill thy soul with the spirit of life.
